The first all-new Silverado since 2019

Engines and towing
Four engines, all with a 10-speed automatic
The 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8s are gone. In their place are two new V8s, a stronger version of the 2.7-liter turbo four and the carryover 3.0-liter Duramax diesel. Every figure below is Chevrolet’s own. confirmed
- 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder
- 350 horsepower and 455 pound-feet, up 40 horsepower from 2026, now paired with a 10-speed automatic instead of the old 8-speed. Standard on WT, Custom, Silverado and Custom Trail Boss. Maximum trailer rating 9,400 pounds; maximum payload 2,340 pounds, the highest in the lineup.
- 5.7-liter V8
- All-new, 402 horsepower and 428 pound-feet, replacing the 5.3. This is the engine behind the Silverado’s 13,700-pound maximum tow rating (Double Cab, standard bed, 2WD, with the Max Trailering package), up from 13,300 on the 2026 truck; maximum payload 2,170 pounds. Optional on Custom Trail Boss, Silverado and Trail Boss, standard on High Country, not offered on ZR2.
- 6.6-liter V8
- All-new, 481 horsepower and 501 pound-feet, replacing the 6.2. Chevrolet calls it the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in the class. Maximum trailer rating 9,700 pounds; maximum payload 1,510 pounds. Optional on High Country and the only option on ZR2.
- 3.0-liter Duramax diesel
- Carryover inline-six, 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet. Tows up to 12,000 pounds as a Crew Cab short bed 4WD with the Max Trailering package; maximum payload 1,870 pounds. Standard on the ZR2, available on WT for the first time. An available 34-gallon tank gives what GM estimates at more than 900 highway miles between fill-ups.
- Four-wheel drive
- A two-speed transfer case on the four-wheel-drive trucks. Z71 off-road hardware (off-road suspension, skid plates, hill descent control) is standard on every four-wheel-drive truck in the mid-level Silverado trim, which is badged Z71 with 4WD and LT with 2WD. Chevrolet has not published the full 4WD system description for 2027 yet. reported
- Fuel economy
- EPA figures were not final as of early November 2026. reported
Trims and prices
Seven trims instead of nine, and the LT is now called the Silverado
Chevrolet dropped the RST and LTZ names and renamed the LT the “Silverado.” The LT Trail Boss is now simply the Trail Boss. Prices are Chevrolet’s published MSRPs, before the $2,795 destination charge. confirmed

| ZR2 | $77,200 | 35-inch mud-terrains, 2-inch lift, Multimatic DSSV dampers, selectable front and rear electronic lockers, Baja mode, 11.5-inch passenger screen. Duramax diesel standard, 6.6 V8 the only option. Bison Edition adds AEV bumpers and beadlock-capable wheels. |
Versus 2026, the Custom Trail Boss is up $1,200 and the Trail Boss (formerly LT Trail Boss) is up $1,200; the WT is up $1,400, the High Country up $8,500 and the ZR2 up $5,400. Options, packages and the exact Crew Cab versus Double Cab pricing are still filling in. confirmed
The off-road ones
Custom Trail Boss vs. Trail Boss vs. ZR2
All three are lifted from the factory. The difference is how much truck you get around the lift, and whether you can seat six.
- Custom Trail Boss
- The one in our lineup. Factory 2-inch lift with monotube shocks, 34-inch mud-terrain tires, skid plates and red recovery hooks on a Custom-grade interior, from $54,400. confirmed Order-guide reporting says it keeps the 40/20/40 front bench for six-passenger seating in the Crew Cab and the automatic locking rear differential, with the 2.7-liter standard and the 5.7-liter V8 optional; Chevrolet has not put those three details on its 2027 pages yet. reported
- Trail Boss
- The same lift and tires with the dedicated off-road hood, front buckets and the Multi-Flex center console (so no bench), Bose 8-speaker audio, a flat-bottom steering wheel, Torch Red-edged seatbelts and up to 19 camera views including underbody cameras. From $61,200. confirmed Rear differential: the order guide shows GM’s G80 automatic locking rear differential standard on both Trail Bosses (and on the Silverado and High Country trims; a $395 option on WT and Custom). Only the ZR2 gets driver-selectable electronic lockers front and rear. reported
- ZR2
- The desert truck: 35-inch tires, Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers with jounce dampers, standard front and rear electronic lockers, Baja mode, massaging front seats and the passenger screen. From $77,200. confirmed
- What Carova shows you
- Three hours on the Carova sand tell you how the 10-speed and the throttle behave in soft ruts, how far you can see over the new lower hood, and whether the Multi-Flex console or the bench suits the people you actually haul. The Custom Trail Boss takes six, the Trail Boss five, which is why the Custom Trail Boss is the one we run.
Inside
A 16.3-inch screen on every trim
The 2027 interior is the biggest change you will feel from the driver’s seat. Everything here is from Chevrolet’s own announcements. confirmed
- Screens
- A 16.3-inch center touchscreen and a 12.2-inch driver display are standard on every trim, up from 13.4 and 12.3 inches. ZR2 and High Country add an 11.5-inch front passenger screen, and with the 15-inch head-up display and the rear camera mirror Chevrolet counts more than 60 inches of displays.
- Software and charging
- Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, available dual wireless charging and a new reconfigurable Multi-Flex center console of roughly 25 liters that converts into a work surface.
- Driver assistance
- Super Cruise hands-free driving is standard on High Country and ZR2 with three years of OnStar One, available on the Silverado and Trail Boss trims, and can tow up to 13,600 pounds hands-free. New standard safety features include Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Side Bicyclist Alert and Reverse Automatic Braking.
- Sightlines
- Reviewers who have driven it note the dashboard top sits about 2 inches lower and the door tops about 1.5 inches lower than the 2026 truck, which helps when you are threading between dunes and the surf line. reported
- Colors
- Three new colors: Apex Red, Pacific Blue Metallic ($495) and Trillium Green Metallic ($395), plus a new Chrome Exterior package.

Drive it before you order it
Get to know the Silverado before you buy it
Nobody has owned a 2027 Silverado long enough to tell you how it lives. You can still find out how a Silverado handles sand. Bring your family, pick up the keys at an oceanfront hotel in Kitty Hawk, and spend five and a half hours driving a Custom Trail Boss, including about three on the Carova 4x4 beach north of Corolla. No salesperson meets you or rides along. Afterward you receive one written No-Haggle Price from a participating dealer for the truck built the way you want it, 2027 included once the order books are fully open. Until participating dealers have 2027 demos, the Trail Boss you drive is the current truck, which shares little more than its name with the redesign, so treat the drive as a sand baseline rather than a preview of the new V8 and cab.
If you have already built one on Chevrolet’s site, send us the build and we will price that exact truck.

Questions
Straight answers about the Silverado
When does the 2027 Chevy Silverado come out?
Chevrolet says the all-new 2027 Silverado 1500 goes on sale in late 2026. Production started in October 2026 in Silao, Mexico, with Fort Wayne, Indiana following in early 2027, and press reports expect the first customer trucks in November or December 2026. Crew Cabs come first; Regular and Double Cab timing has not been announced.
How much does the 2027 Silverado cost?
Chevrolet’s published starting MSRPs are $38,600 for the WT, $43,600 Custom, $47,900 Silverado (LT/Z71), $54,400 Custom Trail Boss, $61,200 Trail Boss, $71,700 High Country and $77,200 ZR2, each before the $2,795 destination charge. Add destination and the range is $41,395 to $79,995.
What engines does the 2027 Silverado have?
Four, all with a 10-speed automatic: a 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder (350 horsepower, 455 pound-feet), a new 5.7-liter V8 (402 horsepower, 428 pound-feet), a new 6.6-liter V8 (481 horsepower, 501 pound-feet) and the 3.0-liter Duramax diesel (305 horsepower, 495 pound-feet). The 5.3 and 6.2 V8s are discontinued.
Is there a 2027 Silverado hybrid?
Chevrolet has not announced one. GM’s chief executive said on the company’s October 2026 earnings call that hybrids are being added to the plan, but no hybrid Silverado has been shown or priced.
Does the 2027 Silverado Custom Trail Boss have a bench seat?
Reporting from the GM order guide says yes, a 40/20/40 front bench for six passengers in the Crew Cab, and that the Trail Boss (the former LT Trail Boss) switches to buckets with the Multi-Flex console. Chevrolet’s 2027 consumer pages confirm the buckets on the Trail Boss but have not yet listed the bench on the Custom Trail Boss, so treat that as reported until the spec sheet is out. Both Trail Bosses keep GM’s G80 automatic locking rear differential per the order guide; the ZR2 is the only 2027 Silverado with selectable front and rear e-lockers.
What is the difference between the Custom Trail Boss and the Trail Boss for 2027?
Both have the factory 2-inch lift, 34-inch mud-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels and skid plates. The Trail Boss, $6,800 more, adds the off-road power-dome hood, front bucket seats with the Multi-Flex console, Bose audio, a flat-bottom steering wheel, available underbody cameras and Super Cruise availability. The Custom Trail Boss is the one that seats six.
How much can the 2027 Silverado tow?
Up to 13,700 pounds with the 5.7-liter V8 in a Double Cab standard-bed 2WD with the Max Trailering package, up from 13,300 on the 2026 truck. The diesel tows up to 12,000 pounds, the 6.6-liter V8 9,700 pounds and the 2.7-liter 9,400 pounds. Maximum payload is 2,340 pounds with the 2.7-liter.
Is the 2027 Silverado 2500 HD also new?
Not all-new. The body carries over, but the 2027 Silverado HD gets an all-new 8.3-liter Duramax diesel V8 rated at 555 horsepower and 1,230 pound-feet with up to 38,000 pounds of towing on the 3500 HD, an updated 6.6-liter gas V8 at 412 horsepower, electric power steering and a Trail Boss package available on the Custom trim. Chevrolet says it is available late 2026.
