Who writes it

OffRoad.guide is written and kept current by Bret Doman, owner of Beach 4x4 LLC in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Beach 4x4 has spent six years putting drivers on the Outer Banks 4x4 beaches, so every vehicle on this site gets judged where it counts: soft sand, aired down to 18 to 20 psi, north of Corolla where the pavement ends.
How we make money
Drivers pay for the beach drive. That is the business.
OffRoad.guide is paid by drivers: $325 a vehicle for half a day on the Carova beach. Dealers pay us no fee, commission or share of any sale, and no automaker pays to be listed, ranked or recommended. Nothing on this site is a paid placement.
How the comparisons are made
No single winner, just the right match
What is best for one driver will not be best for another, so the comparisons match vehicles to how you drive instead of crowning one. Vehicle facts come from each maker’s current model-year information and the reviews listed under Sources at the foot of each page. Prices and packages change during the model year; the maker’s build-and-price site and your written No-Haggle Price decide.
